Here follows the text of a newspaper announcement on the Golden Wedding Anniversary.
On Monday last, there was celebrated the Unionville, (sic) in the Township of Markham Co of York, the fiftieth anniversary of the marriage of Christopher H Chant and Elizabeth Croft, which took place at Hagerman, Township of Markham, on June 15, 1858. The family consists of Herman B. Superintendent of the Doherty Organ Factory Clinton; Mrs. D D Ross, of Elgin, Man; Joseph H with the GTR at Lakefield Clarence A., professor in the University of Toronto; and Miss Amelia E., a professional nurse in Toronto. These were all present, and along with several grandchildren and a few other relatives spent the time in recalling old experiences. In addition there were present Mrs John Dean, of West Toronto; who as Miss Henimigway acted as bridesmaid and Rev J H Chant of Newburgh, who acted as groomsman fifty years ago. Mr And Mrs Chant have lived in Markham Township almost all there lives, and are well-know add (sic) honored in the neighborhood. They are still in excellent health, and many wishes were expressed that they might live to see their sixtieth anniversary.
