CHANT, George Gordon
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of George Gordon Chant in his 93rd year on Friday, January 7, 2005; beloved husband of Lulu (1999); loving father and grandfather to Yvonne Collins and her children James, Sylvia (Martin), Michael (Lisa), Tara (Shawn), and Peter (Sara); Dr. Noel Chant (Judy) and their children Gillian and Ginger; and his children Jennifer, Julie, Josie, Justin, Jessica and their spouses; Nancy Climie (Bill) and their children Colin (Miranda), Steven, Cheryl (Brian) and Graham (Cathy); Margaret Tough (George) and their children Elizabeth (Todd), Gordon (Mary), and David; Karen Sharp and her children Andrew, Laura (Wayne) and Ian; brother of Allen Chant; predeceased by his grandson Murray Sharp and George's eight siblings. George will also be sadly missed by his many great-grandchildren and his best friend Jill Amos. George was the former owner of Chant Paper Box in London after farming for many years. Until a few weeks ago, George was a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels, Treasurer on the Board for Myrtleville House Museum, an active member of Fairview United Church, and a daily swimmer at the Gretzky Centre. Friends were received at the DENNIS TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford, on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday at 12 noon at Fairview United Church, 49 Wayne Drive, Brantford, with the funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. Spring interment McKellar, Ontario. If desired, donations to the Canadian Red Cross or Myrtleville House Museum appreciated

George will be sadly missed by his many great-grandchildren and his special friend Jill Amos.

George was born in Webbwood, Ontario on January 24, 1912. He was the owner of Chant Paper Box in London, Ontario for over 25 years, after dairy farming in the Blackstock area for many years. Until a few weeks ago George was the busiest volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels, an active member and treasurer on the board for Myrtleville Pioneer Museum, and a daily swimmer at the Gretzky Centre.

George was an elder and an active member of the (Methodist) United Church of Canada for eighty years (since 1925).

George enjoyed the memory of many friends made during visits to Abilene TX.

Funeral services were held at Fairview United Church in Brantford, Ontario to be followed by interment at Lakeview Cemetery, McKellar, Ontario in the spring.

George married Lulu Loretta Thompson, daughter of Thomas Thompson and Florence Corkan, on 30 Jun 1932 in Toronto, Ontario.1 (Lulu Loretta Thompson was born in 1905 and died in 1999.)
