bullet  General Notes:

Shown in Register of Rev. Hugh MacKensie as married to Catherine McIver. Five children's births are recorded therein: Margaret, Murdoch, Catherine, Isabella, Christina. Register of Rev. Hugh MacKensie reads: Murdoch Nicholson and Catherine McIver, Gulfshore, had a son 9th March 1835 - Murdoch. (Recorded in Register April 12, 1835)

1871 Census shows Catherine as a widow with Murdoch, Isabella and John at home.

Ages of children in census at variance with Rev. MacKensie's Register: Isabella in Register = 32, in 1871 Census =26 (If 26 was correct, she would not be in Rev. MacKensie's Register as it covered only the period 1832-1844) Murdoch in Register = 36, in 1871 Census=35

Probate/will of Captain Nicholson found in the Nova Scotia Archives, Microfile reel 19290. Catherine signed the document with an "X".
